Will AI replace communication designers?
It replaces production steps, not the judgement. AI produces variants fast; deciding what a brand should say, which variant is on-brand and what to throw away is still the designer's work — and it is the part clients pay for.
The visible shift is in volume work: mood boards, format adaptations, first-draft copy, thumbnail variants. Those hours compress hard.
The invisible shift is in the brief. Whoever writes the sharpest brief now gets the best output, which moves value towards strategy, positioning and editing.
Practically: use generators to widen the option space early and to industrialise adaptations late. Keep concept and final quality control human.
